FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING THE DNS-CT & DON-CLTC OFFERED THROUGH WI DIRECTOR OF NURSING COUNCIL

1) Is the DON-CLTC course I took the same as the DNS-CT course? I’m confused with what the difference.

A: The course is the same. You are now a DNS-CT if you passed the DON-CLTC exam. American Associations of Directors of Nursing Services (AADNS) bought the previous association that offered the DON-CLTC credential. The difference is we are now partnering with AADNS. WDONC partnered with AADNS to offer their course material to allow us to continue to provide nursing leaders in Wisconsin the ability to take the DNS-CT exam. The only difference is we are adding & including material pertinent to Wisconsin that is not covered in the DNS-CT course content.

2) How do I go about renewing my DON- CLTC from the course I took through you guys quite a while back? I read that there may be a way to renew if you took the course in the past.

A: You will be able to renew your credentials. AADNS will contact the first round of those eligible to renew late summer early fall. You will either need 100 continuing education hours, or you will be able to renew through an online course/test. Both options will have a fee that is TBD. Once we have more info on the renewal, we will pass this on to you.
